Trends, Tips, and Snippets

This Blog was created due to my obsession with list making and keeping all of the things I wanted to buy organized. Eventually there were just too many lists, so I decided to start this, a blog where I could keep all of my thoughts, ideas, and prospective shopping all in one place.

Spotlight on Michael Kors

Michael Kors is a brand both expensive and affordable. By this statement I mean looks expensive- is affordable. I've fallen in love with the flat 'Persia' sandals in ivory leather with gold hardware. They look incredible on and are oh so comfortable. Surprisingly they go with so much and can dress up even the most basic jeans & tee outfit. The next Michael Kors accessory I'm absolutely infatuated with is the 38mm 5 link bracelet watch. It's bold, classic and looks so sophisticated on. It also looks like you stole your boyfriend's watch which is a look I adore.

Summertime, Summertime

Summer is calling and I have some new obsessions that scream warm weather. First off after beginning to follow Rebecca Minkoff on instagram and seeing her bags on Shopbop, I decided to finally buy one. I love that her handbags are made in NYC and that she uses these girly pastel colors on tough edgy designs. The mini-mac (M.A.C standing for "morning after clutch") is not only a carefree summer staple but an all-year-round staple. I struggled (of course) with which color to buy since the bag is offered in so many fun choices. Ultimately, I decided on mint with soft grey at a close second. I might actually buy the gray sometime soon, but I just had to go with mint since I think tough leather in a fun and flirty color is what RM is all about.

Next on my list are the Joie 'Nice' sandals in snakeskin/black and white. These sandals are impeccably made in Italy and are so basic it makes me question why they haven't been designed before. They come in a variety of different colors but the snakeskin was calling my name. Don't make the same mistake I made, however. These sandal run a WHOLE size small and I only ordered a half size up. Unfortunately, once they arrived from Shopbop and I realized my mistake, the half size up was sold out... everywhere. Even websites like Zappos that had them before the weekend didn't have them anymore. That only shows what  great pair of sandals they are.

Finally an evil eye bracelet speckled with diamonds screams summer by the water (especially the Mediterranean). The cool ocean blues against a tan wrist is elegant yet playful. I recently discovered some great bracelets on (surprisingly) the overstock website; and I'm not talking about the cheap evil eyes you find at a stand in the mall. These bracelets are beautiful (and expensive!) But remember this is a piece of jewelry to invest in and also wear everyday. $599.99 $1579.99

Weekend Warriors

Nothing makes me more excited than a trip to the Cape- especially before the busy summer season begins. There's something so peaceful about walking a deserted national seashore, slightly bundled up with a cool breeze. That being said you have to have the right accessories, of course. Here are some examples of the essentials you'll no doubt need for an early spring trip to the shore.

Le Pliage Travel Duffel Tote  $255

Let's be real, you definitely already have a Longchamp tote somewhere in your closet. So whether you wear it everyday or haven't worn it in a year doesn't matter because the fact remains that it still makes for a great travel tote. Even better is that you'll already own a matching accessory if you decide to go ahead and pick up the Longchamp Le Pliage travel duffel tote. This is the ultimate weekender bag, not only is it affordable and sleek, but with the unzipping of a zipper you have a full on expandable duffel that is sure to fit everything you need for a getaway and more. While you're at it throw in a few magazines and a ginormous smart water for the car ride in your matching tote, you have the room.

J. Crew The Downtown Field Jacket $148
It's going to be breezy if you're on the water, and you want something that you can wear on both a cool day or a warmer one as well. This jacket blurs the lines between downtown and country and makes for a great everyday wear. It's classic lines and silhouette are perfect for the urbanista visiting a seaside town.

J. Crew Factory Color-block Striped Boatneck Tee $39.50 & Hudson Nico Mid-rise Super Skinny $148
Nothing says Cape Cod quite like stripes. Wear this cozy tee with a pair of white ankle cut skinnies and you'll look like a Kennedy on the compound in a flash.

Panama Hat $58 & Ray Ban Wayfarers $150
Whether you get this piece from a mall or a specialized hat store, this is an investment piece that is key and will be sure to carry you through the spring and summer seasons. Never fret about a bad hair day again, throw it on for a casual beach stroll, and trust me it looks great with a pair of black Ray Ban Wayfarers.

Black as Night, Pink as Day

Although I typically have a propensity towards wearing black and grey, lately I've been catching myself looking twice at hot pink accents and accessories. While it's still true I wouldn't go as far as to wear pink pants or a pink shirt (although I did admire a bright pink cashmere sweater I came across at J. Crew) I have been having an internal struggle lately as to whether or not I should buy a classic two-toned Kate Spade watch, a pink faced Marc Jacobs gold watch, or a pink accented Kate Spade watch. Of course the classic watch will go with everything and never mismatch an outfit. It's also reminiscent of my mother's two-toned Seiko watch from the 80s  that she gave me (I've been wearing that Seiko for years). But the question still remains, will my wrist look pretty in pink? Or will I regret buying so bold of a watch? Check out the sleek time pieces I'm considering below.
