Laura, an Environmental Science major, wears a girly and vintage inspired look consisting of a blush-pink cardigan from Gap, a polka dot chiffon dress purchased from Buffalo Exchange, DKNY opaque gray tights, and light suede booties from Target’s Mossimo brand. Laura declares about her style, “I like to play dress up and I like the way colors and neutrals go together” as can be seen with her fun and playful outfit choice. Her favorite places to shop include Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and thrift stores, adding, “I’m more about searching for [clothing] I like, it’s more exciting that way.” About her personal style Lara says, “I guess it’s a mix of simple and girly mostly; I also like things that are kind of funky.”

Polina, an undeclared student here at UMB, displays a delicate yet edgy style wearing a white tank tucked into a tight fitted black mini from Urban Outfitters, paired along with a vibrant red scarf, open front beige cardigan from TJ Maxx, and Madden Girl bejeweled black gladiator sandals. Her accessories include a dark leather band bracelet from Gap, a gemmed cuff from Russia, and a most interesting necklace consisting of a collection of charms with everything from the Kay jewelers “Infinity” pendant to an evil eye charm. Polina’s favorite places to shop include Urban Outfitters, H&M, but also thrift stores such as Buffalo Exchange since she is “big on budget shopping.” Polina explains about her style, “I guess I usually shoot for comfort. I try to be as comfortable as possible. A lot of dresses and loose fitting clothing. Also I like wearing muted colors and then adding a spark of color.” When asked about her favorite piece of clothing Polina states, “I love leather jackets, that’s definitely my favorite piece for fall right now.”

Bio major Paulina displays a stylish outfit and flair that can only be described as uniquely chic and classic fun. Paulina is wearing a dark gray blazer from Urban Outfitters, and a sheer white tank with light pastel pink shredded jeans both from LF stores. Adding to the ensemble are funky multi-colored flats purchased at Zara, a large silver ‘statement watch’ from Michele, tortoise shell plastic aviators by Chanel, and a Marc by Marc Jacobs black tote bag. Paulina says she gathers inspiration for her unexpected and super cool style from “magazines and blogs- mostly fashion blogs like The Sartorialist,” and enjoys shopping at LF stores and Bloomingdales. She states “LF has edgy really different stuff that reminds me of New York street style” and describes Bloomingdales as more elegant; perfect for her self-described “classy but edgy” style.
Being a French foreign exchange student from France, it’s not hard to see Lucile has style. Not only her first day of fall semester, but also her first day ever at UMB, Lucile wears a short cream colored trench coat purchased from French store La Redoute, a flattering white and navy long-sleeved striped mini-dress from Etam, and black opaque tights. All of this paired with light brown western style booties from Gemo and a brown leather trimmed canvas bucket bag from Camaleu. Lucile describes her style as feminine and claims she “love[s] wearing dresses but also looking casual cool,” and being from France Lucille’s favorite stores of course still include H&M and Zara. Looks like great style is universal.
