Trends, Tips, and Snippets

This Blog was created due to my obsession with list making and keeping all of the things I wanted to buy organized. Eventually there were just too many lists, so I decided to start this, a blog where I could keep all of my thoughts, ideas, and prospective shopping all in one place.

Style Spotter #16

On a rainy day at Umass Boston, Shana, a studio art major, wears the perfect combination of hip and practical. Shana is sporting black J Brand skinny jeans tucked into purple Hunter rain boots; a destroyed black t-shirt from Urban Outfitters, a long H&M striped cardigan, and a black and gray plaid scarf. Her accessories include a gray studded cross-body bag purchased at LF, a hand-made gold leaf necklace, and lots of funky leather band bracelets from everywhere between Target to Costa Rica. Shana describes her style as gearing towards wearing “a lot of neutrals” and sometimes looking “probably a little bit grungy.” She says she draws her inspiration from “installation arts, Rodarte clothing brand, and a lot of style blogs” such as ‘The Style Rookie’ and ‘OutsaPop’. Her favorite places to shop comprise of vintage stores, consignment shops, and LF while her favorite brands include Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Alexander Wang.

So I don't have any tattoos. I'm either all in or all out, because if I get one then I'm going all the way with it. I am however obsessed with peony tattoos. They look beautiful, with all their different colors and details. Peonies are also my favorite flowers; I would totally get one tattooed on my shoulder if I ever decided to go all in.

Behind That Locked Door

I think George Harrison's album cover for 1970s 'All Things Must Pass' looks very retro-cool. He kind of reminds me of a groovy-chic lawn gnome. I'm serious; I want his outfit- everything from the boots, to the jacket, to the hat. The coloring is also great here. I don't know, but this album cover (and the album) seems to just speak to me. I was reminded of all this after seeing a show at the Paradise Rock Club for singer/songwriter, Lissie. Her opening act, Dylan Leblanc, covered George Harrison's "Behind That Locked Door" and I've become re-obsessed with it ever since. P.S. Another good cover of this song? Yim Yames' (Jim James from My Morning Jacket) solo album featuring exclusively all Harrison covers.
