Trends, Tips, and Snippets

This Blog was created due to my obsession with list making and keeping all of the things I wanted to buy organized. Eventually there were just too many lists, so I decided to start this, a blog where I could keep all of my thoughts, ideas, and prospective shopping all in one place.

Expect the Unexpected

Winter has a way of subduing our more summery color/texture choices, but these three items hold the ability to help us out of our winter rut as well as start some conversations.

This glistening pair of leather booties is definitely not what you’d expect in a pair of winter boots, in fact they’re quite the opposite. That being said, you’re sure to stand out amongst a sea of brown leather riding boots and black leather booties. Plus, now you can really live up to your nickname, Twinkle Toes.
Stingray Booties

This warm (and cropped sleeve!) coat from Club Monaco may be sold out but it’s still worth talking about. The color scheme is just enough to bring you out of that winter funk while still dark enough to keep up with a winter wardrobe. So pretty, it reminds me of a dark impressionist painting you can wear- and the length of the sleeves means you can show off a longer pair of gloves.
Sold Out.

Silver statement rings are so cool and have a way of bringing edginess to your everyday jewels. This sterling silver stunner from Tiffany’s looks great worn by itself on a middle finger or on the pointer joining a smaller silver band worn on a different finger. The ring is tough yet delicate, and will be sure to win some praise.

My Perfect Winter Outfit

Not being able to wear white beyond Labor Day is officially a thing of the past. Winter white is huge now, and is a perfectly polished neutral. One of my favorite white pieces to wear during these cold winter months is a pair of white ankle cut skinny jeans from J. Crew. Paired with an earthy neutral sweater and suede grey booties brings it all together. I love this Moto sweater from All Saints because the suede patches give it a bit of an edge and the booties from Steve Madden are low enough when worn with the jeans to sneak in just a bit of ankle.

What I want from J. Crew NOW

I love J.Crew as a brand- no a lifestyle. I adore their clean minimalistic lines, feminine detail, and classic well designed clothing that is built to last. Right now, I'm obsessing over their Boyfriend Fatigue Jacket in camo. It looks beyond perfect with a simple outfit, stripes, and a great pair of ankle skinny jeans. Maybe even with a fun necklace added to spice things up. I've always loved the military trend which has been going on strong for years now, (I've had a classic military jacket for spring the past five seasons) and the trend is surprisingly very approachable.

Daily Driver

I bought my first leather jacket at Bloomingdales. It was the brand Aqua and I kind of now consider it as a sort of training jacket to the one I most recently bought and wear almost everyday (weather permitting). It was a little too big and I was a little too small for it, but it was on sale and it was real leather. I thought it would be great with an over-sized sweater. A leather jacket for someone trying to broaden their wardrobe or sense of style can at first seem a bit daunting. You don’t want to look like your trying too hard to look edgy. So I bought that leather to sort of dip my toes in and try out a new look. Last spring, I finally found the perfect leather jacket that I knew I would live in. It was probably one of the more expensive articles of outerwear I ever bought for myself at around 600 bucks, but it has more than paid for itself by now. I loved it so much I bought it when I knew I’d have to wait until next fall to even really start wearing it. All Saints (where I got it) makes the perfect jacket at the perfect price point. Expensive enough that it will last and you’ll appreciate it, but not so expensive that you regret your decision. I love my jacket with a simple v-neck tee, but when it gets colder my favorite things to pair it with are the American Apparel infinity scarf (I have one in black, gray, army green, and navy), an oversized flannel shirt (preferably stolen from my brother), and my favorite and softest pair of black skinny jeans by Paige denim.

Spotlight on Michael Kors

Michael Kors is a brand both expensive and affordable. By this statement I mean looks expensive- is affordable. I've fallen in love with the flat 'Persia' sandals in ivory leather with gold hardware. They look incredible on and are oh so comfortable. Surprisingly they go with so much and can dress up even the most basic jeans & tee outfit. The next Michael Kors accessory I'm absolutely infatuated with is the 38mm 5 link bracelet watch. It's bold, classic and looks so sophisticated on. It also looks like you stole your boyfriend's watch which is a look I adore.

Summertime, Summertime

Summer is calling and I have some new obsessions that scream warm weather. First off after beginning to follow Rebecca Minkoff on instagram and seeing her bags on Shopbop, I decided to finally buy one. I love that her handbags are made in NYC and that she uses these girly pastel colors on tough edgy designs. The mini-mac (M.A.C standing for "morning after clutch") is not only a carefree summer staple but an all-year-round staple. I struggled (of course) with which color to buy since the bag is offered in so many fun choices. Ultimately, I decided on mint with soft grey at a close second. I might actually buy the gray sometime soon, but I just had to go with mint since I think tough leather in a fun and flirty color is what RM is all about.

Next on my list are the Joie 'Nice' sandals in snakeskin/black and white. These sandals are impeccably made in Italy and are so basic it makes me question why they haven't been designed before. They come in a variety of different colors but the snakeskin was calling my name. Don't make the same mistake I made, however. These sandal run a WHOLE size small and I only ordered a half size up. Unfortunately, once they arrived from Shopbop and I realized my mistake, the half size up was sold out... everywhere. Even websites like Zappos that had them before the weekend didn't have them anymore. That only shows what  great pair of sandals they are.

Finally an evil eye bracelet speckled with diamonds screams summer by the water (especially the Mediterranean). The cool ocean blues against a tan wrist is elegant yet playful. I recently discovered some great bracelets on (surprisingly) the overstock website; and I'm not talking about the cheap evil eyes you find at a stand in the mall. These bracelets are beautiful (and expensive!) But remember this is a piece of jewelry to invest in and also wear everyday. $599.99 $1579.99
